Impiccetta restaurant in Rome - where to try real Roman cuisine?

When the question arose where to try the traditional Roman dish - lamb (Abbacchio) from the oven or on the grill, my friend restaurateur Giacomo advised Impiccetta restaurant, where we went with friends for lunch.

Menu and prices

A good sign of a delicious restaurant is the small menu. In Impicetta, we also liked the opportunity to order pasta in three sizes (Piccola, Media, Fabio) despite the fact that even the smallest portion is quite satisfying.

The selection of drinks is not large, but sufficient. A liter of home-made white wine (Vino della casa) costs only 9 euros - perfect for lunch. Draft beer Birra Morretti - 5 euros.

Wine list

The wine list is also not large - only 10 types of white and 10 types of red. Of the whites, I personally prefer the Gewurztramminer DOP Trentino - 28 euros or the Pecorino Terre di Chieti from the Abruzzo region - 23 euros. There are also several wines from the Lazio region.

I rarely drink red wines, but if I took it, then the Tuscan Chianti Classico for 25 euros.

Our first lunch

The first time we came to Impicetta for lunch on Sunday. Around 12:30 there were still empty seats. I ordered a lamb from the oven with potatoes (abbacchio al forno con patate) for 15 euros.

Jana opted for a small portion of tonarelli with cheese and pepper (Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe) for 7 euros.

And our friend Christina decided to try seafood pasta (Tonnarelli alla Scoglio) for 14 euros.

For dessert, we decided to limit ourselves to one tiramisu for three and coffee.

Score and impressions

The bill for lunch for 3 amounted to only 46.5 euros, which is very budgetary by Roman standards, and if you take into account the quality and taste of the dishes, then the restaurant Impichetta becomes one of the leaders in the rating where to eat tasty and inexpensive in Rome.

Second lunch

The first visit to the restaurant left too good impressions, and I decided to urgently go for a second meal. Just a week later, we again came to Impicetta with our friend Dmitry. And again for lunch.

Started with a bruschetta.

Jana decided to try the fried mussels (Cozze) - this is one of our favorite dishes, and, of course, they are numbered uno in the La Piazzetta restaurant in Sicily.

I decided to try our local cuisine further and chose the Roman chicken (Pollo alla Romana).

Dmitry also tried the classic Roman dish Saltimbocca - thin veal schnitzel (Saltimbocca alla Romana).

Not a dessert, we again took tiramisu, which is one of the best in Rome.

Score and impressions

Once is randomness, and two is regularity. The bill for lunch was only 43 euros.

How to get and book a table

There is a restaurant in my favorite area of Trastevere at Via dei Fienaroli 7. Right next door to Take Your Time Roma. At lunch from 12 to 14 hours there is a chance that there will be places, but in the evening from 19:00 to 23:00, a reservation of at least 24 hours is required. Happy guys do not work.

Phone for reservations: +39 06 4201 3406 (understand Italian and English).

The official website of the restaurant: www.cucinatipicaromanatrastevere.roma.it, there is also a page on Facebook

Share reviews about this restaurant in the comments. We are waiting for you in the Eternal City and on our author's excursion immersion in Trastevere.

Santa Lucia Station in Venice

The first thing that guests of Venice see when arriving in the city on the water by train is the Santa Lucia Station (Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia). This building can be called a "black sheep" among other Venetian buildings: it was built relatively recently: in the middle of the 20th century. Nevertheless, when the tourist’s foot just steps on the platform of Santa Lucia, he immediately smells an amazing Venetian smell of damp and mud, which, however, still conveys a certain romantic spirit.
