We never tire of repeating that a train in Italy is the fastest and most comfortable way to travel. The network of Italian railways is so vast that you can travel by train between large and popular cities, as well as non-traveled rural villages. Italians themselves travel mainly by train, if their car is not available.

The direction Milan - Verona is incredibly popular. About 40 trains run between cities daily. The movement starts at 6:25 a.m. and ends late in the evening. In an hour, 2-3 trains depart on average from the station.

To leave Milan for Verona, head to Milano Centrale Central Station. In Verona, trains arrive at the Porta Nuova train station, located 15-20 minutes walk from the city center.

On the route you can find both regional trains and high-speed Frecciarossa, sometimes referred to as the “white arrow”.

Frecciarossa trains are often referred to as the "white arrow"

Regional trains are cheaper than high-speed ones. Tickets can be bought from 15 euros (2019), but they go slower. On average, the journey from Milan to Verona will take about 2 hours. Do not forget that before boarding regional trains you should stamp the ticket, otherwise there is every chance of running into a fine.

Frecciarossa high speed train tickets are a bit expensive. Prices start at 22 euros (2019), but it is fundamentally different speed and comfort. Accelerating to 200 km / h, Frecciarossa overcomes the distance between Verona and Milan in just 1 hour 13 minutes. Also, tickets for fast trains, as a rule, are issued with the indicated place in the car, and therefore they do not need to be composted at the station.

You can buy a train ticket at the station on the day of departure or in advance via the Internet. On the Italian railways there is a pleasant discount system for those who buy tickets in advance, and not on the day the train departs. Therefore, buying tickets in advance, there is every chance to save.

Check the timetable and the actual cost of tickets on the Omio website. The service works in Russian, and its main advantage is that it tracks the prices of not only the largest railway operator in Italy, but also smaller ones.

The whole purchase process takes less than 15 minutes, and tickets arrive at the specified e-mail immediately after payment in the form of a PDF file. They can only be printed and taken with them to the station.
