The Dresden State Opera Semperoper is one of the oldest opera houses in Germany.

The theater dates back to the XVII century. It was then that at the court of the Elector of Saxony, musical performances began to be presented to the audience. Weber led the theater since 1826 for ten years.

In 1841, the new building of the Court Theater was built, which lasted more than 100 years. After a fire in 1869, the theater was rebuilt again. After 30 years, the theater began to be called differently. It was renamed the Royal Opera. At the beginning of the twentieth century, several Strauss premieres took place.

The Dresden State Opera is better known as the Semper Opera House, named after the architect Gottfried Semper, who created this building. The interior of the Semperoper is very harmonious, the design matches the purpose. The theater is located on the west side of Theater Square, opposite the Royal Palace.

In 1985, the restored theater was opened. This happened 40 years after its destruction during the Second World War. The opera building could not be rebuilt for a long time, since the drawings of the original project were not preserved. The original project was found in Vienna. Semperoper restored. The opening was accompanied by the screening of Weber's free shooter.
